Robinson Preserve Supermoon Paddle
Join Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast, the Manatee County Natural Resources Department, and the Sarasota and Tampa Bay Estuary Programs for a special supermoon paddle at Robinson Preserve! As the sun sets we will make our way through the mangroves to the mouth of the Manatee River. If the skies are clear, we should be in for an incredible treat as the rising full moon reflects the orange rays of the setting sun. A supermoon occurs when the full moon is closest to the Earth in its elliptical orbit, resulting in a slightly larger-than-usual size as viewed from Earth.
This program is suitable for individuals ages 16 and older. This is an intermediate paddle not suitable for beginning paddlers. Children under 16 years old may attend with a parent or guardian in a tandem kayak.
Single and tandem kayaks, paddles, and life jackets are available to borrow on a first-come-first-served basis. If you would like to borrow a kayak, please choose the “borrow a kayak” ticket type. Otherwise, participants must provide their own canoe, kayak, or SUP and safety gear, including a life jacket and whistle.

Participants should bring a water bottle, headlamp or flashlight, and wear clothing appropriate for the weather. Please wear closed-toe shoes that strap or tie to your feet, no flip-flops. Your feet and lower legs will get wet and sandy. You may wish to bring a towel and dry clothes/shoes to change into after the paddle. Restrooms and a water fountain are available on site.
