Give-A-Day for the Bay: Tom Bennet Park Planting
Volunteers are needed to plant native grasses and ground covers along shoreline areas at Bennett Park. You will get wet and muddy at this rewarding workday! Afterward, free lunch will be provided by the Sarasota Bay and Tampa Bay Estuary Programs for all volunteers.
Meet at Tom Bennett Park – 280 Kay Rd, Bradenton, FL 34208
Tools, gloves, plants, and water coolers will be provided. Please be prepared to get wet and muddy. Wear long clothing and closed-toe shoes that are comfortable for working outdoors. Please wear sun protection (sunscreen, shade hat, sunglasses) and bring a water bottle. Participants may bring their own gloves if desired.
Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All volunteers must sign a waiver of liability.
The nearest restrooms are a short drive from the planting site at the Tom Bennett Park pavilion and playground. We recommend that you use the bathroom before arrival if possible.
Students may earn three community service hours for volunteering.
