Give-A-Day for the Bay: Earth Day Bioblitz

Join TBEP and Florida Suncoast Sierra Club for a fun & interactive Earth Day event- A DIY Bioblitz on April 23 from 9:30am-12pm !
This is part of a series of Earth Day events planned in TX, LA, MS, AL, and FL through Paddle the Gulf. Help identify species as you explore local coastal resources and waterways to find your #adventurewithapurpose.
We will be set up at Clam Bayou Nature Park (29th Ave S & Miriam St S, Gulfport, FL 33711) for this DIY event. At this location, you can participate on shore by walking through the nature park or by water (must bring own paddling and safety equipment), to find & identify various plants and animals using your cell phone! To track species observed, we’ll be using the iNaturalist App, so be sure to download it in advance. From 9:30am -12pm, swing by the TBEP/ Sierra Club tent for a brief intro on how to use and navigate the app. Already know how to use iNaturalist? Great! Feel free to visit your favorite paddle or hiking spot and record species in the Paddle the Gulf: 2022 Earth Day Bioblitz project (https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/paddle-the-gulf-2022-earth-day-bioblitz)!
Want to disconnect and leave the phone at home?  We’ll have trash cleanup supplies available as well. Water & snacks will be provided. Please bring a refillable water bottle & dress ready for the Florida elements: hat, sunscreen, bugs spray, sun coverage, comfortable shoes, etc!
Register for the event to let us know you’ll be there at: https://act.sierraclub.org/events/details?formcampaignid=7013q000002GtGZAA0.
