Full Moon Paddle

Join staff from the Sarasota and Tampa Bay Estuary Programs, Wayne Adventures, and Manatee County’s Natural Resources Department for a special full moon paddle and s’mores social at Robinson Preserve! On this approximately 2-mile paddle, we will take advantage of low tide to watch the sunset from the sandbars of the Manatee River. If the skies are clear, we will be greeted by a rising full moon in the east. Bring your camera for great shots of wading birds and beautiful sunset views. Upon our return, we’ll move to the pavilion for a s’mores social.

Single and tandem kayaks, paddles, and life jackets are available to borrow free of charge on a first come-first served basis. All participants must wear a life jacket and bring a flashlight or headlamp and whistle. All participants must be able to meet the County’s minimum eligibility requirements.

Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear that can get wet – no flip-flops or sandals unless they have a heel strap. You may wish to bring light layers if the weather is chilly.

This is an easy paddle that can be enjoyed by beginning kayakers, but we do recommend some prior paddling experience. Program suitable for all ages. Participants under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
