King Tide Photo Exhibit

The Sarasota and Tampa Bay Estuary Programs are sponsoring a traveling photo exhibit this summer that will showcase the high water levels associated with annual extreme high, or "King Tides." The photo exhibit is intended to raise awareness of the impacts of rising seas associated with climate change on our shorelines and communities.

King Tide Photo ExhibitLocal images from a joint King Tide Photo Contest held in 2012 by the two Estuary Programs are included in the exhibit, along with photos from Australia, California and small Pacific Island nations, showing the global significance of sea level rise.

The exhibit, called "Chasing The Waves," debuts June 6 at the Federal Building in downtown Sarasota at 111 S. Orange Ave., where it will be on display through July, before moving to these venues:

  • South Florida Museum, Bradenton - Sept - Oct, 2013

  • Sarasota Bay Water Festival, Sarasota - Nov 2nd

  • Weedon Island Preserve, St. Petersburg - November - December 2013 (tentative)

  • Robinson Preserve, Bradenton - January - February, 2014
